Learn hand lettering techniques and create your own spooky poison bottle labels!
In this 90 minute workshop you will learn the basics of hand lettering, and practice drawing vintage lettering styles, before being guided through creating your own hand lettered Halloween decorations. We will be making apothecary style labels to turn bottles and jars into potion and poison containers! You can choose to make paper labels and glue them onto the containers, or to letter directly onto the containers - you will need different materials depending on which option you choose.
Materials you will need for this workshop:
graph paper or lined paper
pencil
ruler
eraser
any bottles or jars that you want to decorate (I like to repurpose glass drink bottles and jam jars for this; if you'd like to do the same, this requires some prep time cleaning them and removing their original labels)
For the paper labels
textured paper for the labels
PVA glue or double sided tape to stick the labels to the bottles
markers or flatliner pens
For lettering directly onto the bottles/jars
acrylic paint pens or chalk markers
masking tape to mark guidelines / edges of the design
The workshop will take place online, over Zoom. You will receive a link to join a couple of days before the date, along with a PDF worksheet. If you have any questions feel free to email me.
Workshop duration: 1.5 hours. £15 per person. Open to beginners, no previous lettering experience required.
